The University of Glasgow’s approach to giving feedback rests on the assumption that feedback to our students is an essential component of their learning process. It provides opportunities for dialogue between us and our students, allowing them to reflect on their own learning, to understand what they need to improve and to give them ideas about what they need to do to close the gap between their current level of achievement and where they would like to be.

University of Glasgow policy

The University has three policies to support the provision of feedback. The first describes the type of feedback that should be given and determines the maximum length of time students can expect to wait for feedback: 15 working days. The second describes the type of feedback that must be given after summative exams and says that staff should provide generic feedback to the entire class, and personalised feedback to individual students if they would like it. The final policy relates to the provision of written comments on exam scripts and the data protection act and states that you can write on exam scripts as you are marking.
